3 reasons why companies need business coaching

Coaching is cooperation between a coach and a client. The pillars of coaching are three areas that have developed very intensively in the 20th and 21st centuries. These have developed from sport, positive psychology and business and management.

Business coaching developed particularly quickly at the end of the 20th century. Therefore, it is very closely related to the development of startups. When novice entrepreneurs and startup founders sought investors. Often, the investors most often asked the young entrepreneurs to hire a business coach. Usually these business coaches, or business coaches in English, were experienced entrepreneurs who also acted as advisors and mentors. Also, when cooperating with clients, they used several different working methods. These methods include: coaching, mentoring, training, advising and consulting.

Due to the fact that startups, headed by young, committed entrepreneurs and leaders, developed much faster than traditionally managed companies. In the latter, the organization was often headed by a CEO whose motivation to work was much lower than that of young startup leaders. Thus, this was when business coaching began to penetrate all sectors of the US economy.

Let’s switch to the Polish market

So far, business coaching in the form described above has practically been non-existent in Poland. The type of cooperation and support for entrepreneurs in development described above has been performed so far by trainers, consultants, advisors and interim managers whose market in Poland is quite abundant. Coaching schools and universities teaching coaching at postgraduate studies have added to the confusion on the coaching market in Poland. At the peak of the profession’s popularity, they were and still are releasing about a thousand coaches a year. These schools and universities taught that „a business coach is a coach like any other, only one who works in business” . This is absolutely NONSENSE! I have heard this many times in the coaching environment. I wrote about it earlier in my article on LinkedIn: „Don’t even make me laugh” – the beginnings of a large and global organization. You can read the article HERE

For this reason, we at PerfectCircle®️, as the first coaching company on the market in Poland, specialize in executive coaching and business coaching. For instance, we set the highest work standards for business coaches and executive coaches.

That’s why we founded the first business coaching and executive coaching school in Poland #PerfectCircleCommunity, but this is a topic for another article or interview.

So let’s move on to three reasons why companies need business coaching today. Let’s ask ourselves: why do companies need business coaching?

Improving employee engagement

The most important aspect and goal of business coaching in a company is the development of the entire organization. One of the steps to achieve this is to increase employee involvement. The employee and his skills are the main value in the company. If coaching is to be effectively implemented into an organization. It is best if it starts from the very top. For example, from the president of the management board or the company owner. We will write about this executive coaching process in the next article in this series. Then coaching is cascaded to subsequent levels of the organization. It can be individual for each employee or collective, depending on the needs of a given company.

By using the business coaching process in the company, the employee is able to define goals more clearly and focus on them. Their responsibility for the tasks performed increases along with self-confidence and awareness of his influence on the company grows. Individual results of business coaching for such an employee translate into effects throughout the organization. Companies, leaders and employees need business coaching to achieve their goals faster. Also, as a process of improving cooperation and increasing knowledge, awareness and well-being. Due to the fact that business coaching is based primarily on working with a measurable goal. The return on investment in the coaching process can be determined very well. Business coaching processes carried out by business coaches from PerfectCircle®️ often have a specific return on investment in coaching. For example, a guaranteed ROI indicator. We are the first to offer it on the Polish market.

Greater efficiency of the organization

Business coaching is a method by which the entire organization effectively achieves its own goals. From the president’s goals to the goals of the management board, managers, teams, and every department of the organization. The goals are set individually by the coach and the coaching client. Varying from improving leadership competences through specific sales increases, to specific financial results. As well as improving the operation of a given workplace and resolving conflicts in the team. Together with developing the competences of the manager or the rest of the team.

All these factors, of course, translate into better work results and increased efficiency throughout the organization. A business coach helps determine the company’s strengths and weaknesses, the company’s main goals and assign them to the appropriate people. Business coaching is most needed by companies that have problems with unorganized procedures, lack of sales growth and noticeable chaos. A business coach is exactly what you need to help sort it all out and counteract declines in efficiency.

Balance between personal and professional life

Lack of time management and life balance, i.e. the so-called work-life balance means that people in the company may be overwhelmed by too many responsibilities and not perform them effectively. When this happens, all planned goals may be abandoned at the first difficulty encountered. Companies need business coaching to maintain a balance between the personal and professional life of every person in the company. This is important not only for the entire organization, but for each individual within it. Let’s think about the great cost for a person, a team and an organization when an employee has a heart attack, experiences a nervous breakdown or depression.

Business coaching is an effective solution to all these symptoms of lack of balance and well-being in life. Maintained balance at work increases the employee’s effectiveness, well-being and relationships with the environment . Not only with the employee environment, but also the personal one, i.e. the family.
